About the Role

The Mechanic is an hourly, non-exempt, safety-critical position responsible for maintaining, repairing, and safely operating bowling and related mechanical systems at HeadPinz and FastTrax Entertainment Centers across all locations. This role focuses on preventative maintenance, hazard mitigation, and rapid response to equipment issues to ensure bowling lanes, pinsetters, ball returns, and mechanical systems operate safely and reliably. Protecting guest and employee safety, minimizing downtime, and preserving company assets are the primary priorities of this position.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Equipment Safety, Maintenance & Risk Prevention (Primary Responsibility)

  • Maintain, inspect, and repair bowling equipment including pinsetters, ball returns, lane machines, scoring-related hardware, and mechanical back-end systems.
  • Perform routine safety inspections to identify worn, damaged, or unsafe components and take corrective action immediately.
  • Shut down, secure, and tag unsafe equipment until repairs are completed and systems are verified safe for operation.
  • Respond promptly to mechanical failures while prioritizing safety over speed.
  • Follow all lockout/tagout procedures, safety protocols, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain awareness of emergency procedures and assist with incident response as required.

Preventative Maintenance & Operations

  • Execute scheduled preventative maintenance programs to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.
  • Lubricate, adjust, calibrate, and replace parts according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Assist with lane conditioning, oiling patterns, and lane surface care as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and repair documentation.

Facility Coordination & Asset Protection

  • Coordinate with management to schedule repairs with minimal impact on guest operations.
  • Communicate equipment status, safety concerns, and repair timelines clearly to leadership.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and safe mechanical rooms and work areas.

Teamwork, Training & Accountability

  • Work collaboratively with Guest Services, Lane Ambassadors, and management to ensure safe lane operation.
  • Provide guidance to staff regarding equipment shutdowns or lane closures when necessary.
